Well, we’re into the new year, so happy new year, everyone. Have you decided on your New Year’s resolution yet? Have you given up on your New Year’s resolution yet? The beginning of a new year is a good a time as any to try and better yourself, but there’s no reason you can’t start something new on any day of the year. So if you’ve already slipped on your diet or haven’t started going to the gym like you said you would, don’t give up!

Make a January 13^th resolution!

The most common New Year’s resolutions are usually about stopping smoking, starting to exercise, changing to a better diet, spending more time with family, getting out of debt, and drinking less. Those are all good goals. I will add one more to the list, and fortunately for you, it’s an easy one: look younger!

It sounds kinky, but actually it’s a trend in cosmetic surgery. Heavy earrings can stretch out ears and over time, the combination of gravity and jewelry can make ears look stretched out.

An ear job can reshape or reduce the size of ear lobes in patients whose ears have carried a heavy burden over many years. Combine the years of heavy earrings with the fact that ears are one of the body parts that never stop growing and you can see why some people might be self-conscious about their expanding ears.

As a person ages, their face typically loses fat, which is why injectable fillers are so popular. Plumping up the face with fillers is a great solution and the ears are fair game for fillers as well.

It takes a special kind of brilliance to take a look over at your girlfriend’s flat butt, notice a tube of Fix-a-Flat tire sealant sitting on the counter, and decide that the two belong together. It’s hard to believe this is even real, but a transgender woman pretending to be a doctor in Miami Gardens used Fix-a-Flat tire sealant, cement, mineral oil and super glue for a woman’s butt augmentation. And for the low-low price of $700, you too can get a trip to the emergency room!*

This almost defies comprehension. Is this woman deranged? Is she living in a cartoon world where the names of products always indicate their literal purpose? Maybe next she can augment some breasts by putting a couple cantaloupes inside of her patient. And a clothes iron ought to do the trick for those pesky wrinkles. But what about my flat feet? Wait, I know! I think there’s still some Fix-a-Flat left over from your butt augmentation!

What’s really sad is this isn’t the first person to receive this fake doctor’s Looney Tunes treatment, it’s just the first time she’s been caught. And as insane as this fake doctor sounds, you have to wonder about the people who think it’s a good idea to let someone who looks like a circus clown inject their butt with cement. The fake doctor is now facing charges of practicing without a license and causing great bodily harm, a second degree felony. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of creative procedures she can come up with in the can.

Medical Missions for Children

Hi everyone. I just got back from a ten day surgery trip to Batangays, Philippines. The trip was organized by Medical Missions for Children and our group consisted of great doctors and medical professionals from around the U.S. It’s a great organization. We went with two surgeons, two anesthesiologists, and three nurses. We also had the help of a volunteer who helped do all the “little” things to make the trip successful.

The trip was great. We did procedures on about 20 children, mostly cleft lip and cleft palates. A good portion of the children had no access to medical care. In the United States, these deformities are completely addressed by the time a child is one year old. Most of these children ranged from 1 year old to 7 years… I even repaired a few women in their 30’s.

I really enjoy the Philippines every time I go. The people are wonderful and these procedures change the childrens’ lives. It’s medicine in its purest form… during the entire trip, I didn’t fill out a single form. The patients came. We evaluated them and recommended a procedure. The procedure was performed, and the children were returned to their parents, with the hope and promise of a better life.

Finally, as someone who loves food, the food is fantastic. I literally gained seven pounds in 10 days. Fresh mangos, feeding every two hours (our hosts were incredibly gracious), and perhaps a few San Miguels as well…
